Multiple Ply - Many electric guitar pickguards are made with several layers laminated together.
Using multiple pieces can strengthen the pickguard, making it less prone to cup with time. It is also used to create decorative stripes around the edge of the pickguard once the material is beveled along the edge to expose the underlying colors.
B/W/B denotes a pickguard with a black top and bottom layer and a white center layer.
Pickup Configuration - Choose the pickguard according to pickups being mounted. S/S/S denotes 3 single coils. S/S/H denotes 2 single coil pickups with a humbucker in the bridge position.
Mounting Holes Strat pickguards are available in both 11 hole and 8 hole configurations. Be sure to count the screw holes to match your pickguard correctly.
Pre-Wired Pickguards - When replacing the pickups and pots on a Stratocaster or similar guitar, it is often less expensive to purchase a pre-wired pickguard which can be quickly and easily installed.
