DiMarzio Air Zone Pickup Black

DiMarzio Air Zone Pickup Black

The best way to describe the DiMarzio Air Zone Electric Guitar Pickup is to say it's a vintage version of The Tone Zone. It's got the same low string-pull as our other Airbuckers for singing sustain, plus it has the big bass response and cool harmonics of The Tone Zone, with extra sensitivity and control. It's a great match for very hot amps, allowing the player to take full advantage of massive preamp gain without turning the sound to mud or fuzzy noise. It's also a great neck pickup for jazz players who need to get the hollow-body archtop sound from a solid body, and it offers exceptionally good split and series-parallel capability.Recommended For: Bridge position primarily (see Tech Talk for neck position application) in solid body and semihollow body guitars. Tech Talk: Ultra-fat PAF sound with more output. The dynamic range from soft to hard picking is very wide, and the combination of dual-resonance coils with the Airbucker magnetic field allows sustained notes to hang on to harmonic overtones longer, instead of becoming muddy as they fade. Will also work as a very warm, full neck pickup for jazz sound, and combine with Tone Zone, Super Distortion and Super 3 in bridge position.

DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Pickup Black F-Space

DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Pickup Black F-Space

Many of the classic rock sounds of the '70s and '80s came from this pickup. It's been integral to the sound of DiMeola, Gambale, Vinnie Moore, and Frehley. Hot output and mid-boost get maximum scream out of your amp. 4-conductor versatility with coil-splitting possibilities. Regular or F spacing.

DiMarzio DP101 Dual Sound Bridge Pickup Black & Creme F-Space

DiMarzio DP101 Dual Sound Bridge Pickup Black & Creme F-Space

Take a DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker, add a mini-switch and 4-conductor wiring for parallel and single-coil operation, and you have the DiMarzio Dual Sound pickup! The extra flexibility puts cleaner, crisper tone choices at your control. Lighten up on the lead tone in parallel operation, then roar back in with the standard series position or use the single-coil mode along with the neck or middle pickup for chopping rhythm tones. If you crave brighter, more transparent sounds from your bridge or neck pickup without sacrificing wide, singing crunch, the Dual Sound fills the bill.

DiMarzio DP102 X2N Pickup White

DiMarzio DP102 X2N Pickup White

The DiMarzio DP102 X2N Pickup is DiMarzio's highest gain pickup, designed to push tube amps into total overdrive. Twin wide-bar pole pieces give the X2N pickup a nasty, dangerous look. Single-coil and series-parallel modes are especially effective with the DiMarzio DP102 X2N pickup.

DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup Chrome F-Space

DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro Pickup Chrome F-Space

The DiMarzio PAF Pro was created when chops-intensive playing was reaching high popularity, and high-gain amps and rack systems were the norm. A pickup was needed that combined a lot of presence and "cut" with an open-sounding PAF vibe. The transparency of its sound lets the PAF Pro slice through heavy processing, where darker-sounding pickups get lost in the mud of the effects chain. Low notes have both snap and chunk, and there is a spike in the midrange that gives the pickup a subtle "aw" vowel sound, like a wah-wah pedal stopped in the middle. Treble response is tweaked, so high notes stand out without getting brittle. The PAF Pro makes an outstanding neck pickup in almost any guitar, and it's an exceptional bridge pickup when high output isn't required. The PAF Pro is a dependable choice right across the board neck and bridge positions, solidbody, semi-hollow and hollow body guitars are equally effective uses. This is a great building block pickup, because it's effective in many different situations. Try it in the neck position with a hotter bridge pickup - anything from a Norton to a Super Distortion will create a calibrated two-humbucker match. As a bridge pickup, it's really effective with single-coils, because it won't drown them out with too much power, and it's bright enough to blend in tone-wise.

DiMarzio DP152 Super 3 Guitar Pickup Black/White F-Spaced

DiMarzio DP152 Super 3 Guitar Pickup Black/White F-Spaced

Primarily a bridge position pickup designed for solidbody guitars, it's similar to the Super Distortion with more midrange grind and a chopped treble. Perfect for anyone who plays their amp with scooped mids and intense overdrive. The top end is very dark and the low end isn't muddy. With this pickup you can crank the bass and the treble on your amp and get both scream and crunch.

DiMarzio DP153 FRED Pickup Purple

DiMarzio DP153 FRED Pickup Purple

The DiMarzio DP153 FRED Pickup is for neck and bridge positions - suitable for solid, semi, and hollowbody guitars. DiMarzio FRED humbuckers are like the PAF Pro with more gain, mid EQ, and overtones. The DiMarzio FRED gives you a wide, fat tone with more crank and growl. Also very responsive to picking so you can pick harder to shift from crunch to overdrive. Great for combined lead/rhythm players. In power trios, the FRED pickup helps fill the mix. For straight-in recording, the DiMarzio FRED lets you make the changes from your guitar.

DiMarzio DP153F Fred Guitar Pickup F-Spaced Black

DiMarzio DP153F Fred Guitar Pickup F-Spaced Black

Dual coil guitar pickup. Output: 305 millivolts. DC Resistance: 10.07K.

DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup Black & White F-Space

DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup Black & White F-Space

Designed for maximum impact and power to get a tight, aggressive, loud sound. It incorporates a patented dual-resonance coil configuration that senses more harmonic overtones than ordinary humbuckers. Works in almost all solidbodies and most semi-hollowbodies as well. Though specifically created for Steve Vai's Ibanez Jems, it can add a lot of punch to Les Pauls and similar set-neck guitars. Makes the lowest notes jump out of the amp, and feedback occurs easily with a wide range of harmonic overtones.

DiMarzio DP159 Evolution Bridge Pickup Chrome F-Space

DiMarzio DP159 Evolution Bridge Pickup Chrome F-Space

The DiMarzio DP159 Evolution Bridge Pickup is a hefty humbucker designed for maximum impact and power. The Evolution pickup's sound is tight, aggressive, and loud. The DP159 Evolution incorporates DiMarzio's patented dual-resonance coil configuration that senses more harmonic overtones than ordinary humbuckers. Perfect for solos that really cut through. Low notes are very tight, and the highs have a lot of presence. DiMarzio designed the DP159 pickup for Steve's Ibanez Jems, but it can add a lot of punch and definition to Les Pauls and similar set-neck guitars - even the lowest bass notes really jump out of the amp, and feedback occurs easily with a wide range of harmonic overtones.

DiMarzio DP161 Steve's Special Guitar Pickup Black

DiMarzio DP161 Steve's Special Guitar Pickup Black

A nontraditional approach to high-output bridge humbucking guitar pickup design. Most hot humbuckers concentrate the pickup's power in a narrow frequency range for maximum impact. The Dimarzio Special spreads the sound over a broader range so bass and treble tones are boosted and midrange is lowered. The result is a sound that's hot, clean, and open at the same time. Recommended for bridge position.

DiMarzio DP165 The Breed Neck Pickup Black F-Space

DiMarzio DP165 The Breed Neck Pickup Black F-Space

DiMarzio created the Breed Neck Pickup in response to a request from Steve Vai for a fat, classic humbucker sound to contrast with the hotter, screaming Evolution-equipped guitars. The neck pickup is a bit louder and fatter-sounding than the PAF Pro pickups that Steve used on his earliest Jem guitars. Harmonics are easy to get, and 4-conductor wiring coil enables cool "notch tone" coil-splitting.The guitar part is recommended for the neck position on bolt-on trem guitars and bridge position on set-neck fixed-bridge instruments. As a neck pickup, the Breed has more than enough power to balance with high-output bridge pickups: it will work with the Tone Zone, Super Distortion and Evolution as well as The Breed bridge model. In the bridge position, it has a very warm, hot PAF tone-really smooth, with nice harmonics.

DiMarzio DP165/DP166 Breed Pickup Blue Neck

DiMarzio DP165/DP166 Breed Pickup Blue Neck

Steve wanted one of his instruments to have a fat, classic humbucker sound to contrast with his hotter Evolution-equipped guitars, hence the Breed. The Breed is a bit louder and fatter-sounding than the PAF Pros. It works especially well with the ToneZone, Super Distortion, and Evolution. It features standard 4-conducter wiring, Alnico 5 magnets, and 325mV output. It is generally recommended as a neck pickup for bolt-on trem guitars and in the bridge position on set-neck, fixed-bridge instruments.

DiMarzio DP166 The Breed Bridge Pickup Black Regular

DiMarzio DP166 The Breed Bridge Pickup Black Regular

The Breed bridge pickup is not as hot as the Evolution, but it's got a warm and punchy mid-range coupled with a fat low end that rolls off before it can get muddy. If you've seen Steve Vai play in the last few years, you may have seen him playing an Ibanez Jem guitar with the word "Pogo" taped on the face. The Pogo is fitted with DiMarzio Breed pickups and is the result of Steve's desire to have a fat, classic humbucker sound to contrast with the hotter, screaming Evolution-equipped guitars. Harmonics come easily and the 4-conductor wiring coil enables cool "notch tone" coil-splitting. Recommended for the bridge position on solid body guitars. The Breed was designed to warm up and smooth out the sound of 25-1/2 scale trem guitars. It's got a lot more power than a PAF, but it also has a finer touch than high-output models. Picking hard will generate a lot of voltage, but a softer attack will clean up the sound of an overdriven amp.

DiMarzio DP190 Air Classic Neck Pickup Black Neck

DiMarzio DP190 Air Classic Neck Pickup Black Neck

DiMarzio set out to make a pickup with the sound of the late 1950s humbuckers without simply imitating them with Alnico 2 or aged Alnico 5 magnets. Airbucker technology was created to capture all of the best sonic qualities of vintage humbuckers while avoiding the technical problems. The Air Classic has the same sweet sound as a classic humbucker, but Airbucker technology uses more reliable full-strength Alnico 5 magnets and still reduces string-pull to increase sustain and sensitivity. The result is an almost vocal, three-dimensional sound that jumps off the string faster and stays true as it sustains. The sense of touch and control this provides will offer you an unequaled ability to create your own sound. Recommended for use in the neck position when combined with Air Classic bridge model and neck position in combination with hotter humbuckers. For all solidbody, hollow, and semi-hollowbody guitars. Tech Talk: There's no doubt that a weak magnetic field allows a vibrating string to ring longer, but the standard Alnico II/weakened Alnico 5 method also muddies the tone the longer the string sustains. By contrast, the Airbucker magnetic field preserves high end sustain; it's easier to capture and hold harmonic feedback at varied frequencies, and chords maintain better clarity.

DiMarzio DP193 Air Norton Pickup Black

DiMarzio DP193 Air Norton Pickup Black

The DiMarzio DP193 Air Norton Pickup is the neck pickup that breaks all the rules. It's fat and warm, yet not muddy. It's hot, but not distorted. It's even got cool harmonics. The patent-applied-for magnetic structure reduces string-pull, so sustain is improved, and pick attack and dynamics are tremendously controllable and expressive. Combine the Air Norton pickup with a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge position for a perfect blend of power and tone. DP193 pickups are recommended for solidbody and semi-hollowbody guitars. When the Air Norton is in the neck position, it's a warm, open-sounding pickup with enough power to balance with all bridge humbuckers. Try the DiMarzio DP193 with 500K pots for maximum treble and harmonic presence. In the bridge position, the sound is medium output with solid lows and biting harmonics. You can try it here with 250K controls, or a 500K volume and 250K tone to fatten the highs up a little. The Air Norton combines well with an Air Classic in the neck, and also with Cruiser, Chopper and Blue Velvet single coil pickups.

DiMarzio DP200 Steve Morse Pickup Creme Bridge

DiMarzio DP200 Steve Morse Pickup Creme Bridge

DiMarzio puts his name on the DP200 Steve Morse Pickup and it's just what you need to generate his sound. Very clean, very articulate pickup.

DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup White F-Space

DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup White F-Space

A high-output bridge humbucker designed for the extended low end and heavy chords that dropped tuning delivers, plus serious treble response for single-note solos and standard tuning. The D Sonic isn't just a one-sound guitar pickup, either. In addition to the standard series humbucking sound, the patented design utilizes 4-conductor wiring to access 2 different single-coil sounds plus parallel humbucking mode, for 3 additional sounds that are distinctive and versatile. Recommended for solidbody guitars, bridge position. Those of you familiar with DiMarzio history will note the visual resemblance to the old MegaDrive, but the design is completely different. Installation direction makes a noticeable difference in the sound, particularly with overdriven amps. With the solid bar toward the bridge, the sound is a little brighter and better-defined, and this is the direction DiMarzio recommends for heavy strings and low tunings. With the adjustable polepieces toward the bridge, the sound is warmer and a touch louder and this works best for standard tuning and more solo-oriented playing. Each coil has a unique tonal character, so the 2 split sounds are different, and parallel humbucking produces a third, clean and bright sound.

DiMarzio DP211/DP212 EJ Custom F-Spaced Pickup Black & Creme Bridge

DiMarzio DP211/DP212 EJ Custom F-Spaced Pickup Black & Creme Bridge

Although Eric Johnson is best known as a Strat player, he has always played humbucker-equipped guitars as well. After getting a new 1959 Les Paul reissue, Eric asked DiMarzio if it could be made to sound like an old Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar, and DiMarzio said, "No problem!" The guitar pickups they designed are exact replacements for standard, full size humbuckers. They are bright with great presence without sounding thin. When Eric tried them, he said they were almost as clear-sounding as Strat pickups, and he was surprised at how well they sounded with heavy distortion, because no matter how overdriven the sound, it did not become muddy. The EJ Custom is available with exposed coils in all standard DiMarzio colors and plated or unplated nickel covers at additional cost. Recommended for all positions, in solid, semi-solid and hollowbody electric guitars.Tech Talk: If you look at the DC resistance specs for these guitar pickups, you will see they're very similar to PAF-style models. However, their performance is very different in 2 important areas. They have less power and much more treble response than "vintage" humbuckers. In fact, treble response is comparable to that of typical single-coils, but since bass response is still very solid, the EJ Custom isn't thin-sounding. It's outstanding for chords and fingerpicking, and has exceptional definition for soloing, even with extreme amounts of distortion.

DiMarzio DP213 PAF Joe Satriani Pickup Chrome F-Space

DiMarzio DP213 PAF Joe Satriani Pickup Chrome F-Space

Joe wanted a neck position humbucker that combined the best qualities of the DiMarzio PAF Pro with those of a late '50s Gibson humbucker. Joe described this tone as being "tubular". Through the use of Virtual Vintage technology, clear-sounding low frequencies are blended with warm-sounding mids and high frequencies, which makes the PAF Joe equally good for chords and single notes. It was first used by Joe throughout the 2003 G3 tour. Recommended for all positions, solid, semi-solid and hollowbody electric guitars.Tech Talk: What does "tubular" mean? In this case, it means making low notes "speak" more clearly while giving high notes a rounder voicing. This accomplishes 2 goals: chords have better definition, and single notes at higher fret positions remain warm sounding rather than getting thinner. The PAF Joe has slightly less power than the PAF Pro does. It balances well with bridge pickups like the PAF Pro, Fred, Breed neck model, Air Norton, and Norton.

DiMarzio DP215 Evo 2 Bridge Pickup Black F-Space

DiMarzio DP215 Evo 2 Bridge Pickup Black F-Space

The original Evolution bridge guitar pickup did exactly what Steve Vai wanted it to do: kick butt and produce serious scream. The Evo 2 DP215 bridge pickup was designed to be more complex - the same basic tone with increased headroom and dynamics, so that the sound kills on 10 and cleans up when the volume is rolled down. With a little less power than the original Evolution, Evo 2 balances perfectly with the Evolution neck model and performs equally well with high gain and vintage amps.

DiMarzio DP216 Mo' Joe Bridge Pickup Black F-Spaced

DiMarzio DP216 Mo' Joe Bridge Pickup Black F-Spaced

Joe Satriani has used the Fred as his main bridge pickup for years. This year Joe asked DiMarzio for a hotter and bigger version to replace the Fred in his Ibanez guitars. In response, DiMarzio created the DP216 Mo' Joe Bridge Pickup, and it's all about tone and definition. The name says it all. It has more power than the Fred, but it doesn't sacrifice clarity or dynamics. Additionally, all the harmonics that made the Fred guitar pickup so good are all there, ready to jump out at the touch of a guitar pick. Having more output makes it a perfect match for the PAF Joe in the neck position. The combination delivers great versatility and control from rhythms to solos. Recommended For: bridge position, solid and semi hollowbody guitars. Tech Talk: The last few years have seen Joe develop a new signature tube amp and start using heavier-gauge strings more often. Both developments emphasized the importance of the Mo' Joe pickup in having a high degree of string separation without sounding sterile or processed. DiMarzio achieved this by slightly increasing the distance between the center frequencies that the coils are tuned to, without increasing DC resistance. The result is a pickup that's both hotter and more articulate.

DiMarzio Multibucker Electric Guitar Pickup White Regular

DiMarzio Multibucker Electric Guitar Pickup White Regular

The DiMarzio Multibucker Pickup is like two humbuckers in one for your electric guitar. DiMarzio's Fast Track 1 and Chopper are both humbuckers in a single coil size, and DiMarzio has packed them into one standard humbucker-sized case. You can use them separately or together, for a whole range of different sounds in one electric guitar pickup! Get a hot vintage sound with strong upper midrange and high-end bite, a very full dual single coil bell tone, or, with both sides together, a sound similar to DiMarzio's Megadrive humbucker, which is great with distortion.Recommended for bridge or neck position. Standard four-conductor wiring and ceramic magnet. The DiMarzio Multibucker puts out 380mV.

DiMarzio PAF Classic Guitar Pickup Chrome Neck

DiMarzio PAF Classic Guitar Pickup Chrome Neck

Pickup covers are made of nickel silver, plated with nickel, and are especially thin to minimize loss of tone. Airbucker technology and double-wax dipping eliminate microphonics and squeals. 4-conductor cable allows series-parallel and coil-splitting options.

DiMarzio PAF DP103 Guitar Pickup Black Regular

DiMarzio PAF DP103 Guitar Pickup Black Regular

It has a smooth, almost voice-like quality and that intangible swell to the notes after attack. It possesses vintage output and breathes freely with an open, warm character. Played flat-out through a non-master volume tube amp, the PAF re-creates the deep character of the great plug-in, turn-up and wail school of tone. Modern potting techniques and tight, consistent winding eliminates squeal and microphonics common to the originals. Here is solid tone for both neck and bridge positions.
